EarthSayers Podcast
Beyond Plastics, launched in January 2019 from Bennington College, is dedicated to ending plastic pollution. It unites environmental policy experts with grassroots advocates to build an effective movement.
The organization leverages deep policy and advocacy expertise to drive institutional, economic, and societal changes. Their work addresses the severe health, climate, and environmental impacts of plastic production and disposal. Beyond Plastics educates the public, policymakers, and media; encourages businesses to eliminate single-use plastics; trains student leaders; and works to block new plastic manufacturing and burning facilities. This comprehensive approach aims to inspire action from individuals, corporations, and governments.
EarthSayers Cinema presents "The Creative High," a powerful documentary exploring the intersection of art, addiction, and recovery. The film intimately follows nine artists—dancers, painters, musicians, and performers—as they navigate their personal journeys, revealing creativity as a pathway to healing and wholeness.
Joining us for this discussion is co-director Dianne Griffin. An accomplished cinematographer and someone in recovery herself, Dianne brings a unique dual perspective to the project. Her work, informed by Buddhism, explores themes of transformation, spirituality, and human resilience, viewing the creative process as a spiritual journey.
The EarthSayers podcast recently featured filmmaker Trevor Tejeda-Gervais to discuss his documentary, "The True Cost of Burning Coal: Iowa’s Dirty Secret."
The episode reveals Iowa's continued heavy reliance on coal, despite its wind-energy leadership, and the resulting dangers to communities and the environment. The Many Passions of Matteo Lane
